July 2016 - Villas by the sea

May 2016 - TOP Guides launches Short Nature Walk.

TOP Guides have launched a one-hour nature experience on Mt Taranaki that is suitable for all fitness levels. The walk looks at the many historical, cultural and ecological points of interest such as the Maori legend about Mt Taranaki and the special plants and lifeforms that exist in Egmont National Park. May 2016 - Govett-Brewster Art Gallery/Len Lye Centre launches guided tours.

New Zealand's latest and greatest contemporary art museum launched three tour options for trade and public at TRENZ 2016. A museum tour led by an information officer will be marketed to general public and the FIT market and a Museum Curator Tour and a VIP Museum Director/Curator Cocktail is specifically designed for trade - both small FIT groups (ie couples) and Groups. April 2016 - Discover Taranaki launches short experiences.

Discover Taranaki has launched a range of half day trade-exclusive products, making visiting Taranaki easier than ever before. With special access to private gardens, farm tours and a helicopter experience, there is plenty to choose from. February 2016 - Jetstar flies to Taranaki

New Plymouth airport welcomed Jetstar last week, opening a brand new temporary terminal building.Offering a number of flights to and from Auckland throughout each day, Jetstar aims to bring more competitive flight pricing to the region. For more information see

December 2015 - Novotel New Plymouth Hobson Opens.

November 2015 - TOP Guides launches guided Pouakai Crossing and Sunset Tour.

You can now book a guided tour of Taranaki's stunning and adventurous one day hike, The Pouakai Crossing. Plus for the full experience, add a spectacular twist and arrive at the best time of day, sunset, to capture the classic shot of the mountain reflecting in the tans/mountain lakes. Forgotten World Adventures

October 2015 – Forgotten World Adventures offers rail bike adventures.

Starting in October, Forgotten World Adventures will be offering newly designed and built rail bikes along with their rail carts as a second way of exploring the Forgotten World Highway.
Designed with comfort in mind, visitors will be able to pedal at their own pace and even remove the bike from the train tracks for snack breaks.  

All Blacks

July 2015 – All Blacks game in Taranaki.

It was announced that the All Blacks will play their first Rugby Championship match at New Plymouth’s Yarrow Stadium against Argentina in 2017.

The match is expected to be a sell-out with a lot of national and international visitors coming to support their rugby heroes.


July 2015 – Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre Opens.

Situated in a gleaming building that features a façade of Stainless Steel, the gallery is New Zealand’s first contemporary art museum dedicated to a single artist. The gallery has already had a lot of national and international interest and will be offering commissionable guided tours and other events such as film festivals in its 62-seat cinema.
