Out to Brunch

The much awaited return of popular 6 piece local group 'Out to Brunch' will finally happen at 3pm on Sunday, December 13.  Not to be missed is this, Taranaki Jazz Club's final act in a year packed with top quality jazz performances from within Taranaki and throughout the North Island. Except drummer Jacob Randall, they are all original members of the band. Ross Halliday-guitar, Mark Stevens - bass, Stewart Maunder - saxophone/flute, Robin Wells – saxophone and Chris Gimblett - vocals and keyboard are highly respected musicians and tutors. During Out To Brunch’s career, they’ve gained accolades for their rich and full arrangements, from great jazz standards to more contemporary swing, latin and funk.  The harmonic blend of the two saxophones is a “highlight,” says band spokesman Halliday “complementing a full sounding rhythm section” and Gimbletts “inimitable” vocal renditions of some of jazz's great composers.  These include Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Gershwin, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins   Randall, in the final stage of study at Wellington's NZ Jazz School has since an early age, won many international drumming competitions. He will join his 'MultiPlayer' friends vocalist Lauren Nottingham and Matt Sagen who had a visiting musician asking when they performed last month“where did you get those two from - they're amazing!” Doors open 2.30pm at The Mayfair, Devon St West, New Plymouth. Admission Adults $20, Jazz Club members $10, Students $4
