Taranaki Arts Festival - Tim Gruchy Installation

About

New Zealand/Aotearoa Visual Arts. Esteemed multimedia artist Tim Gruchy - whose work was seen recently with Imaginable at WOMAD NZ 2017 - returns to Taranaki with his exciting projections. This arts festival will boast two new site-specific projected works and a reprise of Tim's work Monica's Gift, which was commissioned for Govett-Brewster Art Gallery's 40th birthday celebrations in 2010. The two new works for The Showplace and Puki Ariki are conceived for night viewing. Tim harnesses high powered projectors and dynamic 3D mapping techniques to use the building facades as platforms for light. Mesmerising transformation of the buildings will unfold, each themed unto the function of the buildings. Colour, beauty, humour and visual form will morph in a visually poetic choreography for audiences. Each work will be accompanied by a synchronised custom soundtrack to further enhance the emotional impact. Together these three works will offer a memorable projection experience on a scale unprecedented in New Plymouth. Supported by: Art in Public Places Trust
